Semmelknödel - bread dumplings

Ingredients:

- 300g (0,66 lb) old hard bread from breadrolls (white bread)
- 1 onion
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 500 ml (16,9 oz) milk
- 1 package frozen parsley
- 3 eggs
- salt, pepper and nutmeg

Cut the hard bread rolls into cubes or slices and put them in a big bowl. Then cut the onion into small pieces and steam them for 2 minutes.

Add the milk and warm it up. Put the mixture over the bread and let it sit for at least 10 minutes. Add parsley, eggs, salt, pepper and nutmeg and mix it.

Make 8 dumplings out of the mixtures. Wet your hands before you do it so that the dough doesn't stick.

Cook salt water in a big pot till it boils.  Add the dumplings and let them cook (medium heat) for about 20 minutes without a lid.

Happy Birthday!

Strawberry-banana-dessert!

Yesterday I made a dessert again. I got some ideas from Pinterest but the result is my own creation.

You need:

for the Crust
* 25 small Oreo cookies, crushed into crumbs
* 3 teaspoons of butter, melted

for the filling
* 3 Bananas
* 15 strawberries
* 500g "Quark" (I guess you can't get that in all countries)
* 32g (4 packs) vanilla sugar
* 2 vanilla extracts

for the Garnish
* 200g of whip cream
* chocolate flakes

Directions:

* Stir together the Oreo cookie crumbs and melted butter. Evenly divide the crumbs between your individual serving dishes and press into the bottoms of the dishes to form a crust layer.
* Beat the "Quark", the vanilla sugar and the vanilla extract until smooth and add it on the top of the cookie crumbs in the servings

* Slice the bananas and put the on the top of the cream (2 layers). Then put half sliced strawberries on the top.

* Decorate the dessert with whip cream and chocolate flakes and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving.

Nutella Cheesecake Dessert

Yesterday I tried out a new recipe I found on Pinterest. It didn't come out bad but I would use less Nutella next time unless you like it really sweet.

You need:

for the Crust
* 12 Oreo Cookies, crushed into crumbs
* 3 tablespoons butter, melted

for the Filling
* 8 ounces cream cheese
* 2/3 cup Nutella
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
* 8 ounces whip cream

for the Garnish
* whip cream
* chocolate flakes

Directions:

* Stir together the Oreo cookie crumbs and melted butter. Evenly divide the crumbs between your individual serving dishes and press into the bottoms of the dishes to form a crust layer.

* Beat the cream cheese and Nutella until smooth. Add vanilla and mix to combine. Fold in the whip cream until well blended and no streaks remain.

* Evenly pipe or spoon the filling into individual serving dishes. If desired, garnish with additional whip cream and chocolate flakes.

* Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

~ FoOd * fOoD * FoOd ~

Here some pictures I took with my iPhone. I like to take pictures of food and I'm sure it's interesting for some of my friends in other countries.
We love to go eating ICE CREAM, here a few kinds we already tried. :)

This is a cheesecake Chris baked. There are apples on the button and strawberries in the cream. It was very yummy. If someone wants the recipe (I can translate it), let me know.

That's the food we had for my sisters birthday: a pasta salad with tomatoes and mozzarella, a potato salad and sausages. And for dessert a strawberry cake!

That's something typical German. Beef rolls (Rouladen), Spaetzle (pasta made with eggs) and potato dumplings.

And here the pizza we had last Friday in Wernau at "Pulcinella".

Tiramisu Cake

I made this cake last week for my mom. Really good! Sorry that the recipe is in German. I found it on Chefkoch.de

Für den Biskuitboden:
6 m.-große Ei(er), getrennt
1 Prise Salz
180 g Zucker, extra fein
1 EL Vanillezucker
100 g Mehl
80 g Stärkemehl
1 Pck. Puddingpulver, Vanille
1 TL Backpulver
120 ml Milch, zum Tränken
1 EL Zucker
1 EL Kakaopulver
1 Tasse Espresso, oder starken Kaffee, schwarz, kalt
1 Schuss Amaretto
Für die Creme:
250 g Mascarpone
250 g Quark, 20% Fett
60 g Zucker, fein
1 Pck. Vanillezucker, oder echte Burbonvanille
1 Schuss Amaretto
2 EL Eierlikör
100 g Schokoladenraspel, zartbitter
600 ml Schlagsahne
2 EL, gest. Sahnesteif
  Kakaopulver, zum Bestäuben
Für die Dekoration:        Schokozebraröllchen
50 g Schokoladenraspel

Zubereitung:

~*~ Easter Cards ~*~

Today I received my first Easter card from a girl from my Facebook group "Penpalling & Letters". Really cute. :D

 I also wrote two Easter cards for girls from that group. I hope they all like my cards. Well they are not that creative this time. Don't have good ideas.

Then I wanna share a recipe with you all. I made those steamed dumplings last week and they were really good. If you like it sweet, you should add more sugar, because they don't really taste sweet at all.

Christmas 2010

So it's time now to post some Christmas pictures. I wanna start with my cookies. I made my Hello Kitty cookies with an Hello Kitty Sushi set. It works pretty good for the cookies too. :D
And here is the Christmas tree at my parents. Chris and I decorated it and bought new decoration. I don't like my mom's plastic Christmas tree balls that's why I bought some glass balls. I decided to decorate the tree with the colors green, gold and white.
 I also got really nice Christmas cards this year and a lot. Thank you to all, I love the cards.
And here a picture of my New Years plant. So cute. We will see how long it takes me to kill it... HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!
